Our Sustainability Focus
With the support of our ESG Advisory team, Kroll partnered with internal and external stakeholders to conduct a materiality assessment to help us identify Sustainability issues that have the potential to affect our operating performance, financial resilience or the world at large. The issues determined to be the most material to Kroll inform the focus of our Sustainability strategy and initiatives.
Sustainability Commitments
Reducing our Emissions Footprint
Our carbon reduction plan is a commitment to continue to measure and reduce our emissions footprint by 2031.
The plan is comprised of a 1.5-degree Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) aligned Scope 1 and 2 near-term reduction target, as well as Scope 3 near-term reduction goal. Scope 1 reflects direct emissions from Kroll’s operations; Scope 2 reflects emissions from Kroll’s purchase of electricity, heat, and cooling; and Scope 3 reflects emissions related to Kroll’s value chain. To reach our reduction goals, we are committed to the following:
- Measuring and disclosing our emissions
- Reducing our direct emissions
- Procuring clean electricity for our offices and homeworkers
- Managing our business travel
- Helping to finance carbon removal projects
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
We’ve tied our strategies and initiatives to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). While we acknowledge and respect the interconnectivity of the 17 goals that make up the SDGs, we believe four of them are directly relevant to our business and connected to areas where we can make the greatest impact. Kroll’s Sustainability efforts are deliberately aligned to:
- Goal 4, Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
- Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
- Goal 10, Reduced Inequalities: Reduce inequalities within and among countries.
- Goal 13, Climate Action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Kroll Operations and Workplace Strategies

Through the Kroll Workplace strategy, we continue to work smarter: increasing efficiency in day-to-day office processes, reducing overall energy consumption and encouraging employees to recycle and compost waste.
Our Workplace strategy starts at the design and development stage of any new workplace or office build-out and continues throughout our occupancy. The majority of Kroll employees work in LEED- (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or BREEAM- (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certified buildings, which are designed to prioritize energy efficiency. These certifications ensure our workspaces are constructed to reduce energy and water usage, promote better indoor air quality and reduce the environmental impacts of construction.
We have also achieved several ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certifications in certain jurisdictions:

- ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems
- ISO 27001: Information Security Management Systems
